Brief About Manik Sarkar

Manik Sarkar is the legend of CPI(M) and 9th Chief Minister of northeastren indian state of Tripura. He is the only one person who serve longest time as a Chief Minister. He was continue manage to the post since 1998 -2018.He is a politburo mamber of the Communist party of India (marxist). Sarkar also known as the”‘Most Honest” and “Most Clean ” Chief Minister In India.According to the affidavit that he submitted along with his nomination paper ,he has no land ,vehicle and any costly movable and non-movable asset.

Manik Sarkar was born middle-class familly on 22 January,1949. His mother anjali Sarkar was a government employe in tripura and his father was a tailor. He completed his B.Com degree from Maharaja Bir Bikram College in Agartala .

Personal Life

in personal life of Manik Sarkar don’t have big family, he is Married to Panchali Bhattyachrya and His wife worked with the central Social Walfare Board before retiring in 2011. The don’t have own house and car ,His wife has no personal security guards and she never use any transport what was dedicate in service of the Chief Minister

Political life of Manik Sarkar

Manik Sarkar became active in students movements in his students life in 1968. At the age of 19 , he became a member of Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was a member of SFI (Students Federation of India) During his study life at MBB College. Due to his early political exposure he become the Vice President of the SFI in 1972.After Six years of joining CPI(M) State committee,He was included in the party state Secretariat in the year 1978. He was elected as MLA from Agartala Constituency at the age of 31 in 1980 which was the starting Manik Sarkars leadership in tripura. At the same time, he was appointed as the Chief Whip of the CPI(M). He again become MLA from Krishnanagar, Agartala in 1983. The biggest success come to Sarkar in 1998 , at the age of 49 when he became a member of the politburo of the CPI(M) and in the same year he also became Chief Minister Of Tripura. Since 1988 he manage his position as Chief Minister of Tripura. In 2018 Election his party lost majority as a result he replaced by Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister.
